The Conducting Fellowship Program at the Cortona Sessions for New Music is returning for the 2020 Sessions. Fellowships will be awarded to up to 4 conductors based on submitted audition materials. Conducting Fellows will receive a scholarship of $850, reducing tuition for the Sessions to $1,200. Opportunities for Conducting Fellows will include:

  • conduct at least one world premiere ensemble work with Sessions performers/faculty

  • conducting lessons/classes with Chris Younghoon Kim

  • conduct at least one work for small ensemble from the new music 'canon' featuring Sessions performers/faculty

All Conducting Fellows will have the opportunity to enjoy all other aspects of the Sessions, including the excursion to Florence (round-trip train provided), and all other concerts, classes, and events. More specifics about the Fellowship will be provided following the application process.

  • 14 nights in Hotel Oasi Neumann w/breakfast

  • round-trip train to Florence

  • attendance/participation in all festival events


additional/supplemental cost  

single room:  $300 (for saxophone sessions, $210)
wine tour:  €150 (paid in Cortona - cash preferred)
